Sometimes in shops or restaurants I ask the chashier what their favourite item (food or drink etc) is. They always look baffled, never expecting anyone to care about their specific opinion. Most just jump to the default order, but very occasionally there's an honest response, and I get to try someone that someone else loves. Sure I might not like it much, but it's nice to enjoy other peoples things.

@fecklessman it makes sense. that's why basically my whole family always orders unsweet tea when we go out, so that they can put as many sweet n low packets in their tea as they wish.

Yeah, when talking to my mother I'm always telling her to get to the point faster because she always creates long stories or over-explains things. It's kinda the opposite problem that I have.

@nikkiunwin we used loose leaf tea from coffee am. it's pretty good and cheap! it was cut though... i tend to prefer whole leaves, but those also tend to be a lot more expensive.

@csandreas that sounds good. i like yellow cake with chocolate frosting. it's sort of a metaphor for how i'm black on the outside and asian on the inside.

@thepappytube i've done this before too, but i usually won't order whatever it is because i'm incredibly picky. i would tell people my favorite chocolate piece at the shop when i worked there as well, and about 3/4 times the person would choose that item. i also always look at the 'employee picks' in bookstores and music shops, because i find it interesting.
