- Position of the front camera:
Moved to center of landscape position rather than center of portrait.
- Processor:
Changed to M2, rather than M1.
- Bluetooth 5.3 and wifi 6E

For me it doesn’t make any sense to upgrade. The only change that would matter is the new processor. However the M1 chip have never given me ANY issues. It’s extremely powerful. I have it since September 2022

I doubt anyone needs to upgrade from 5 to 6 after 2 years. The reason I got an air 5 was not to have to get a new one for the next 5 or 6 years.

No not worth upgrading. A disappointment. Should have at least given them a mini LED display with 90-120 hz display.
Basically, apart from the larger size model and the faster chip it’s more of the same. The average iPad user doesn’t need that M2 chip anyway.
An A17 is fine. So no. Expensive overkill.

I actually video edit on my Air5 using Luma Fusion. It allows me to keep all the footage on an external SSD and render it back to the SSD when I am done. Works fantastically well.

I am a teacher and here is my research from students.
We compared :
Ipad 2017 -5 gen A9 chip 5 Wat 2G ram
Ipad 2022 gen 10 - A14 6 wats 4 GB ram
Ipad Air M1 2022 15 wats 8G ram
Ipad Air M2 2024 20 wats 8G ram

Test was set if devices can run all school day while taiking notes.
School hours were 7 and in period of time from 7:00 to 14:15

Results :
Ipad 2024 Air M2 chip died during 6 school hour - disappointment
Ipad 2022 Air M1 chip passed 7 hours with 12% of battery left
Ipad 2022 chip passed 7 hours with 24% of battery
Ipad 2017 chip passed 7 hours with 31% of battery even it was oldes ipad
So my advice for students is to have power bank for new models with plenty of power but with powerhungry hardware. Chip and extra ram cause maybe more powerdraw.
My recomendation will be always Ipad 2022.

I had original ipad 4, then Air 3rd gen now Air 5th gen. I would say the new Air models feel very plastic. My son dropped the previous models nothing happened. He dropped the Air 5th gen and the Touch ID button went into the iPad itself causing it to be permanently depressed sending the iPad stuck into recovery mode which u can’t come out of as you can’t unpress the button. Apple won’t fix it as it’s physical damage. Had to have it fixed by private repair store. All this with 6 month old iPad. The whole way it’s made is very weak and plastic.
