Can we just appreciate the fact that everyone here would’ve hated to sit through a class on this, and yet here we are?

Never would've thought you had to do all this in order to have a salad named after you. Props

Killing a dictator is useless unless his line of succession and the entire system is altered at around the same time.

Napoléon whenever entering the French parliament, bought an extra gun, sword and a knife with him and hid it and kept his old elite guard soldiers outside, because when he needed help they would rush and quickly help him, because he thought he would get killed like julius ceasear.

Only 5 people stabbed him while he was alive. The other 18 was after death. The other 18 pussied out. Technically there was 60 people in on the plot and 37 didn’t do anything at all.

When reading Dante’s inferno for university I felt so much joy when I saw Brutus being eaten by Satan for all eternity, say what you will about Caesar but in the end he was truly a man of the people.

Mark Anthony: "Caesar, I have been informed that Pompey has fled to Egypt"
Julius Caesar: "Well, boys. You already know what that means, right?"
Soldiers: "IT'S CRUSADE TIME" *"Walk Like an Egyptian" starts playing*

You can't compare him with dictators nowadays. In Rome there was a function dictator where they gave a person all power for 6 months when they are under threat. So we can't compare our modern word dictator with the Roman version of dictator.

The senators actually used stylus pens to stab Caesar, not blades, and Caesar could have been saved, he died of blood loss, all he had to do was go get help but he had given up, he pulled his tunic over his head and waited to die.

If they had taken out Antony. There’s a very slim chance Octavian would’ve lost

I always read a lot into the fact that Caesar had nothing but a pen to defend himself. Like, he had nothing to defend himself?... no, the legend never says that. He had a pen, and he probably took someone's eye out with it before he went down.
