From my experience I make slightly less money from a million views, I usually get about £40 which is close to what you make.

Well I would understand that YouTube shorts earn less money because first they're short and second they have different experience since there is short feed. That also means that thumbnails aren't necessary and titles are less important, just the first few seconds are important.

It's mostly because there are more people on shorts, and you are more likely to get even more views than a long form video, so they pay shorts creators less to balance their total video creator paychecks with long form video creators

I think Youtube should increase the profit from the shorts because to create a short is the same as creating a long content video, the effort is the same and the profit should be the same. You should be paid for the work you do, and what you show just demotivates you..

Well I got almost 19 million views over on 4 different shorts in 3 months or so time and barely saw $500?!!? Doesn't make since and the top short has 11 MILLION FIX THAT
