2024 BYD Sealion 6 First Drive | Zigwheels.Ph

What makes a game changer or a disruptor in the car world? Is it the specs, the tech, the looks, or the price? Nah, it's all about the whole package. BYD just came out with their first non-EV car, and it's a plug-in hybrid SUV called the Sealion 6 DM-i.

They're calling it "Dual Motor Intelligence," and they're promising the best of both worlds: silent and fuel-efficient city driving, plus no worries about running out of juice with an expected range of 1000 kilometers.

The all-new crossover uses a permanent synchronous motor and an 18.3-kilowatt hour Blade battery, paired with a turbocharged 1.5-liter engine functioning as a generator.

And get this, the price is only P1,548,000, which might be the most impressive part. We checked it out on our First Drive, and let me tell you, this BYD Sealion 6 DM-i is a legit contender in the hybrid SUV game!

I've become particularly interested in the BYD brand and their car models. Some people may dislike Chinese car manufacturing, but I find this brand intriguing. With a price tag of 1.6 million, this car is certainly competitive and would make critics reconsider their views.

The Sealion just introduced as one version Dynamic and only disapointing 2 colors black and white and the price here slightly above PH price. :-( Hopefully the Premium version will be introduced here with the AWD. But yes, this is a viable option for me.

“This is BYD’s first Plug-In Hybrid in the country” — NOT TRUE, Roy. The pre-facelift model of this particular Sea Lion 06, which was the Song Plus DM-i, was sold here last year by the previous distributor. Very few bought it, but it was officially sold here nonetheless. And many years ago, the 1st-generation Tang PHEV was also sold here. 😊
