American senators and some grieving families of Boeing plane crash victims lashed out at company CEO Dave Calhoun at a hearing in Washington, D.C., where he testified about safety issues and offered an apology. Jackson Proskow speaks with the family of Danielle Moore, a Canadian killed in a 2019 Ethiopian Airlines crash, and reports on an admission Calhoun made while on the stand.

It's not even summer yet, but millions of people are sweltering under a heat dome that's settled in over much of Canada and the U.S., where temperature records are set to be shattered. Mike Armstrong explains how cities are working to keep their residents cool.

A lack of clarity and answers remain since the National Security and Intelligence Committee of Parliamentarians (NSICOP) accused unnamed MPs of colluding with hostile foreign states. Mackenzie Gray reports on how Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland is walking back a commitment to look into foreign meddling and how Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre is staying tight-lipped about NSICOP's allegations.

While Canada's official poverty rate is roughly seven per cent, there are many more Canadians than previously thought who cannot afford their basic needs, according to a new report from Food Banks Canada. Heidi Petracek explains how the new numbers were tabulated, some of the simple things more people cannot afford and what it means as Canada works to address its growing cost of living crisis.

Western countries are keeping a close eye on Russian President Vladimir Putin, who received a red-carpet welcome for his first visit to North Korea in 24 years. Redmond Shannon looks at how Putin and North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un want to strengthen their countries' ties and the fears they could be teaming up to take on the West.

Plus, nerves are sky-high for Edmonton Oilers fans, who are hoping their team can beat the Florida Panthers again and stay alive after game five in the Stanley Cup Final. Slav Kornik reports from Sunrise, Fla. on what's at stake, while Jeff Semple speaks with some die-hard Oilers fans who travelled far and wide to Edmonton to support the team.

We put our loved ones on those planes because we believe they're safe. He put those planes in the sky knowing they were unsafe. He should be held accountable. Payouts to the families and prison time.

This has happened with airline companies a few times throughout the past few decades. It really does take a crash or sometimes even more than one crash for change to be implemented. They just make too much money that one crash and hundreds of victims still doesn't cost them as much as continued improper practices. 😔
