I have tried many times to fit myself into one of the popular cleaning systems and always fail. I have picked up some good habits from them though. Now I just have my own thing going simply by observing my house and noticing how often things need to be done to stay on track. I do a big block of cleaning one day on the weekend and then spend a little time every morning before work maintaining. It's not for everyone but so far it's working for me.

The way I've been functioning is trying to stick to bedroom on monday, bathroom on tuesday, kitchen on wednesday, living room on thursday, friday and saturday are free for all days and meal prep and rest sunday. Laundry, dishes and pet care get picked at daily. Combining cleaning, tidying, organizing, dusting, sanitizing, decluttering on an as needed basis in one space for that scheduled day. I do not want to think about the whole house in one day. 😅

I don't see how you can help, but thanks for offering. I moved into 1/2 the house in the middle of a 3-year illness and did not have any money to pay for help or buy shelves. I am FINALLY well, used my small inheritance to buy shelves and am finally working to find a place for everything. I did no cleaning while bed-ridden so I have some major deep cleaning to do. It feels good to be making progress in the right direction.

I like a 3"×5" card file system and have created daily, weekly, etc., tasks as well as one-time tasks that need to be done. My energy is still low, so I focus on priorities and urgent needs. I love the fable of the tortoise winning the race. I still need frequent breaks to rest, but seeing progress, however small or slow, feels GREAT.

"Side Tracked Home Executives" Pam Young and Peggy Jones, came out when I was a young mother, 40 plus years ago. This is very reminescent, but with a bit more customization perhaps. And it served me well. Three babies in 38 months, cloth diapers, wringer washer, wooden drying rack; organizing was the only way to come out on top.

I had no idea you had a book, so I will be taking a look at that.

I have a chronic illness so my motivation/energy differ on any set day.
I am trying my best to get into some good habits and your morning and afternoon videos helped me start to find my routine and I am going to time all the different tasks, so that I know if I can do a 5 min job or I can master the 20 minute job.
Thanks for also giving us the permission to do what suits us as individuals - I always feel like I have failed if I can't follow one of the more popular cleaning systems.

Thank you, this channel really changed my life. I was never taught on how to properly clean and it felt so overwhelming to learn and it lead me into a depression hole where I was just rot in my mess and don’t know how to start. Thank you, your channel actually save my life ❤

Thank you so much for this video!

Your specific cleaning tips are always super helpful, but I really appreciate videos that help me be more efficient and plan my time better. The more I can “automate”, the less planning/thinking I have to do each day. Given how fast we live these days, saving that mental energy is priceless!

Two huge stumbling blocks for me are 1. Motivation and 2. Just getting started without feeling overwhelmed!

I have a friend she cleans her house from top to bottom every day. I struggle and try to keep my house clean and tidy, but struggle with ME/CFS/Fibromyalgia. So as well as physical problems, some days I find it so hard think straight and work out even simple strategies. I need a clone of you.

Your suggestion to write ✍🏽 everything down has helped me a great deal. I stay on track and if I stop to do something else, I can go back to where I left off quickly. Having a system in place works for me. Thank you! ☺️🥹 👩🏽 ✨ 💛

it would be cool to see a video on how to get back into your routine after having to pause it for a bit. I recently fractured my foot and things are sliding a bit; it seems daunting to have to catch back up. Tips on quick ways to get back in order, or suggestions on places to focus on or start would be apricated.

I think that whether you own a home or rent one, you should feel that it’s yours and you need to keep it clean and neat

I definitely have tasks that only happen monthly/ 6 monthly and annually in my phone calendar and set reminders. Definitely find that do a little each day really helps maintain and keep on top of the mess. You have to take less time out of your life to clean and house looks tidy and presentable so it’s doesn’t matter if you get an unexpected visitor.

My big stumbling block is too much stuff, keeping too much. Everything, but paper stuff the most. Clutter makes actual cleaning difficult.

DH & I pick a small area to “team clean” each weekend. Indoors are winter and outdoors are summer. It might be a closet, bookcase or something in the basement. It helps motivate us and keeps the house pretty much up to date.

I have settled into a routine that works for the most part. But I do struggle with dusting and floors. We have uneven slate floors and we live in the country, with pets. So dirt and pine needles are just a fact of life. I would love to see a video on how to routinely clean slate floors. And I think I need better tools that don’t take more time to haul out and clean up afterwards (i.e. the bucket and mop situation is a real sticking point for me). As for the dusting, I don’t know what is getting in my way. We don’t have a lot of knickknacks or stuff to move. I think it’s just a never ending battle. I’m wondering if a good air purifier would help keep the dust down, but they can be very expensive. I wouldn’t mind the investment if I was sure it would work.

My problem is that cleaning doesn't generate revenue, and I have a hard time justifying taking the time to do it when that time could otherwise be made profitable. The day-to-day stuff is okay, but the bigger jobs are definitely not happening. It drives me crazy, but I guess it's worth the cost? I know I've started to get clutter blind and have just accepted that not having things as clean as I would like is an inevitability, as opposed to something I'm actively trying to improve. Thanks for your video. It was super helpful, and I'm grabbing a copy of your book.
