I spent a lot of time playing Super Mario Kart as a child. And I think a lot of other people did too! I hope this video brings back some warm, nostalgic memories. If you enjoyed this documentary or learned something new, please give it a like or a share!

I just cried my eyes out... I'm almost 40 and and I remember going to Kmart and my dad buying this for me with the Super Nintendo... We didn't have a lot of money and he said the mom would be mad, but he did it anyway... My dad was Mexican and a field worker so I just think of all the hard work he did just to make me happy... These memories just rushed into me as I watched your video... It may sound so silly but thank you.

It's interesting that Miyamoto himself said he had little involvement in the development of the game and yet his suggestions ended up becoming key staples of both the series and the kart racing genre as a whole. The man truly is a visionary.

This game is one of the most addictive games ever created. Repeat playability is off the charts.

I don't usually comment on these, but this one really hit me in the feels. I played Super Mario Kart with my Dad alot growing up, and even Mario Kart 8 with Him a few years ago. My Dad passed away this year from cancer, and watching this brought back all those fond memories of us playing this for hours on end back in the 90s. Excellent video as always Gaming Historian, and Thankyou.

I love the production on these videos. The little figures posed at the end is fantastic. And the recaps on what people are doing with their lives really gives it that 80's era movie feel. One of these days I'm going to have to play Mario Kart.

If old school / quality History Channel was still a thing, you'd deserve your own show. Every documentary you do hits me right in the nostalgia feels.

My mom and I used to play Super Mario Kart a lot back in the early '90s when she still played video games. Sadly she passed away in 2019, but memories of us playing this together are some of my fondest childhood memories of her.

I think this is the most well researched, choreographed, highest production value and most entertaining gaming show I’ve watched. Every episode you produce is a 10/10 quality. Though some subjects are more interesting than others you always put %110 into each episode and it shows.

One of my favorite all time video games. I still remember the Christmas that I got that game, my younger brother and I played it all day, completely forgot about our other Christmas gifts. We played that game for years and years, had some epic races and battles against each other. We're both in our 40's and still occasionally bring up that game in conversation. Good times.

The year 1992, my family got a SNES for Christmas. It obviously came with Super Mario World, but when we got home with our new system, my Dad came into the living room, turned off the system and said we were done playing Mario tonight, then he inserted a strange new cartridge into the SNES. That cartridge was Super Mario Kart. We could watch him play, but not play it ourselves that night. The next day, we were allowed to jump in to play the game. It was legendary. We would spend hours racing and battling in the game. I’ve played most, not all of the Mario Kart series. It’s a significant series to me.❤

I turned 12 years old the year that this game was released. My friends' and I spent many of hours playing it. Fast forward to today, I am currently 42 years old and play the newer versions of this classic franchise with my kids. 30 years and still going strong! Nintendo still has it's magic...

I'm glad you covered the music, it's one of the most memorable things about SMK imo. Nintendo has always been strong on the musical front. Many talented composers.

I still have my copy of Mario Kart from when I was a kid. I can't even come close as an adult to beating my time trials now.

I got into a biking accident and shattered by collarbone and broke my ribs and was laid up for months while I healed...I played Mario Kart 8 practically everyday and it never got tired or boring. That's really saying something about a video game! The greatest game franchise of all time in my opinion.

This game was PURE CHARM and fun. At the time the graphics were amazing. Honestly I still love the jagged mode 7 sprites- they're such a vibe. The soundtrack is dripping in that weird SNES sound chip reverb and crazy synthy brass pads with cool vibrato, etc. It was all just awesome!
