Filipino Olympians make grand entrance at Rizal stadium | ABS-CBN News

Capping their grand homecoming parade on Wednesday (August 14), Filipino Olympians were met with loud cheers at the Rizal Memorial Stadium, where a tribute program was held to celebrate their achievements.

Led by double gold medalist Carlos Yulo, the country's representatives to the Paris Games took turns entering the packed venue, with the gymnastics champion giving a speech on behalf of his fellow athletes.

It took 100 years of participating in the Olympics for the Philippines to have a golden era. Any medal in 2028 will give the Philippines a run of medals in four straight Olympiads, which would be a record. The Philippines had a run of three straight Olympiads with a medal from 1928 to 1936. After that, the Philippines went four straight Olympiads without medals. After the 1964 silver, the Philippines went five straight Olympiads with no medals. It was followed by a run of medals in three Olympiads from 1988 to 1996. From 2000 to 2012, was a medal drought of four Olympiads.
