War makes money. The Afghan people are not fighters. We should not have been there to begin with. Did I mention war makes money? Yeah.

I know a guy who was making $175, 000 a year tax free working for an American contracting company in Afghanistan. Within 10 years he sold his old house and bought a new house more than twice the size of his old house with several acres of land attached to it and when his daughter reached 19 years old he also bought her a house as well. Three years before that when she turned 16 he also bought her a car. Before the Afghanistan War he was struggling to pay his bills because he quit his fireman job to pursue a career as a investigator within the police department. But the grueling training as a police cadet made him quit that career ambition and as a result he was left without a job and an income. To make ends meet he became a waiter at a restaurant for a couple of years. A couple of months after the US invaded Afghanistan he decided to apply for a job in Afghanistan and received a position with a contracting company that worked in Afghanistan for the US government and that was how he ended up working in Afghanistan for nearly two decades. I imagine he is a multi-millionaire by now.

We spent $2 trillion in Afghanistan? That is what the media tells you, but the actual cost could be as high as 4 times that!

Why is no one talking about 170K dead Afghanis including 50K Taliban because of this war.

Why are these interview segments so time restricted? It reminds me of cable news.

This reminds me of a popular bumper sticker that showed for every Taliban we kill, we created a lot more of them.

the main problem is they speak about the Afghans and Taliban as they aren't different. Most or all Taliban are Afghan although all Afghan are not Taliban.

"Nation building" sounds like a PC term for colonization.

Pakistan profited by keeping Afghanistan on the boil. US failed to counter it because that suited the military industrial complex.

1) Oil contracts, preventing nationalizing oil production in Iraq.
2) As long as we’re in Iraq and the nations in a nationalist frenzy, might as well swing by Afghanistan and scoop up that lithium and build that western controlled pipeline.
3) Huge PMC contracts, often for companies with ex leadership now working in government.

Nation building and exporting beliefs, cultures etc has never worked anywhere.

Funny how cenk has to say "i criticize media all the time" in almost every video now given that there has barely been a difference between msnbc and tyt for past 4 years. Once again this interview lacked some inportant discussions like the trillions in mineral deposits and to keep china from involving china in the BRI

We went war in Afghanistan because the taliban were working with Al-Qaeda and harboring bin laden
