I have a shirt from the Icelandic festival that is in Gimli Manitoba, there were lots of small signs in the yard with Icelandic phrases, with the English translation. The shirts the volunteers wore said “ég tala ekki íslensku” and underneath in small letters translates to “ I don’t speak Icelandic”


I’ve also been trying to learn, I got a mug that my aunt got us from her trip to Iceland, it reads “ I don’t know what this mug says”. Funny cause when people ask what it says you can respond “I don’t know what this mug says”


A lil trolling does the heart good. Also, look up the Icelandic festival!

I’ve heard that Icelandic people refer to gimli as “Vestur-Íslendingar” and I’m proud of it. Thanks for helping with my goal and I’ll sub!

The most important aspect of these phrases is the little sniffle at the end of the sentence, because it can get so darn cold there.
I ❤ the sound of Icelandic.

In Sweden we think that a Swedish word+ur makes it Icelandic eg dog=hund =>hundur
