Meanwhile, Trump’s current defense secretary, Mark Esper, was also critical, prompting pushback from the president overnight. NBC’s Geoff Bennett reports for TODAY from the White House.

I’m a veteran, served in the Marines, Army and National guard and Trump has crossed the line here. The Defense secretaries are correct here. You don’t use the military to take away America citizens right to protest. You can’t do that when every military man gives an oath to protect and defend the constitution first, not a president. Glad great military men are speaking to their troops and reminding them of that oath. In the end we’re screwed, Trump doesn’t know the constitution so he oversteps and Biden is senile and character wise, equal or worse than Trump.
