Do you recommend using a tear away or water soluble backing so the stitches stay even? I am having trouble with uneven stitches in the cuddle.

Why don’t the videos start with how to cut the binding? Is it cut on the bias like regular cotton or does it not matter what does width wise mean? Am I making this harder than it is?
