My Sister has had every, so-called "mean" dog in history, the meanest and most vicious was her Chihuahua!

My pitbull who I had to put to sleep last summer after having her for 17 years was the most aggressive dog I’ve ever come across. And by aggressive I mean aggressively sweet, loyal, and loving.

absolutely agree that a psych eval is need on the owners prior to being handed reins over a strong, potentially dangerous animal. Not just a large dog. I've owned Shar-pei's (considered red flag dogs in many places), Rottweiler's, and currently own an Argentinian Doggo/Shar-pei and I can tell ya that they require a ton of exercise in order to keep them mentally & physically calm on a daily basis. I hate muzzle's and choke chains but I keep 'em on hand for the safety of my own dog's as well as other people and other dogs. Without thorough socializing and self control training, these dogs can be extremely difficult to deal with, much less restrain or remove off of someone else. I've witnessed 1st hand wild Shar-pei's take on Pitt's (despite the odds of loosing) and Doggo's that can break metal fencing from the shear force of pouncing against it until it gives. Special breeds need special rules and extra care far beyond the average dog you might see in your neighborhood.

I've had several pitbulls and a cane Corso and they are the nicest dogs in the 🌎 it's all in how they're trained.

The American Temperament Test society have put out that 931 American Pitbull Terriers were tested on their Temperament and only 117 were considered failures. That doesn't factor in who their owners were and how they were raised. Still, that is 87.4% of a passing rate.
The Golden Retriever got a score of 85.6% but nobody bats an eye towards them. Stop blaming the breed for the poor raising skills of the owners.

"Pit bulls are naturally aggressive" you say as one was sitting on my lap giving me kisses.

Pit bulls were once known as the "nanny dog", their aggression is based on their owner and training.

fun fact: all dogs are peaceful, but they change behavior by how you treat them or train them, for example, a red nosed pitbull, its nice and loyal, you train it to become a bad dog, and it will stay like that for a really long time, until you retrain them and make them nice again

No breed should ever be banned, but examination of the owner for bigger/stronger/powerful breeds should be a must.
It’s never the breed itself but people who are unfit to own them that ruin their rep.

I can understand the really big ones being banned in urban areas, for their own good, but i can´t really say that any dog breed deserves to be outright banned, their is a pitbull that lives across the street from me, a rescue too, and she is, by far one of the sweetest, and most friendly dogs i have ever met, the responsibility over a dog is almost completely in the hands of the owner and that always needs to be taken into consideration when talking about raising these dogs
