Thank you for making these videos. Oddly, I am just now starting to learn sewing and am starting from scratch. I'm also interested in the reasons for using particular stitches. Why would this stitch be used over the back stitch compared to the running stitch? Is it merely a compromise or is there a more specific reason?

A BIG thank you for your tutorials! QUESTION: what is the strongest hand stitch for a seam that could get a lot of pressure-I am hand sewing piping, a gusset, and the back side of a pillow (because I had HAD it with trying to machine sew it-yes, even with a zipper foot!!) I have been back stitching so far and it's working out fine, but the back and fore and the saddle stitch would be a little faster...are they just as strong? Thanks!

So good to see a clearly-done and informative series of videos. Bravo. What's the song you're using for the intro/outro, by the way?

@pippensculps In the interest of keeping the DRM gestapo off my back, all I can say is look at Benny Goodman's 1933 catalog. :)
