Regarding the soul. I believe the brain acts as a supper advanced radio or TV. The soul is the signal going into it. Damage part of the radio and part of the signal can't go through.

Someone with as much knowledge as NDT should realize that the physical universe as we observe it is nothing but our minds interpretation of energy. So in a way the universe we can observe only exists within our consciousness. His explanation of consciousness is not any different than anyone who thinks they have it figured out. Talk about brain activity all you want, but no one has an explanation on how consciousness works. No one can explain how we are self aware. I dobt know what is going on, no one does, but Ibdo know that there is some working to the soul beyond brain activity.

I believe that this is the soul. Not necessarily the memories, etc. I mean that's the experiences of the soul but not the soul.

I think its not the physical brain itsself that makes you but what makes you you is the electrical patterns in your brain, and what your neurons do with a signal when they get it. So basically if you were to replace the hardware (your brain) with something else, but keep the "software" youd still be you. Thats what I consider the soul.

The example of a piano player comes to mind - your mind plays the brain, resulting in the chemical and electrical impulses that affect your body. Please explain the countless professionally verfied near death experiences that defy your understanding of consciousness. I appreciate the effort put into a fully naturalistic explanation of supernatural elements of the universe, but it seems kind of silly and egotistical to assume we have the soul and consciousness figured out and that the countless people throughout our species' history who've had supernatural experiences- that contradict our current (and still infant) understanding view of reality- are just wrong or lying. I haven't had an NDE, but myself and many arround me have experienced things that your insufficient explanation of the soul can't explain. Not only that, it seems that over time, the things that have been officially recognized as "sciences" has significantly dwindled down, conveniently eleminating everything we consider today as "magical" or supernatural. We make decisions based on "can I personally experience this or not" and assuming that if the almighty human of Earth can't figure it out with our vast deep understanding of the entirety of existence based on what we've seen on this tiny planet in this tiny galaxy in this tiny pin point in this vast universe, then it just doesn't exist. The real problem, I think, is that you can only startbto understand when youve open yourself up to the POSSIBILITY of believing it with some sort of evidence, and that our current science simply can't explain everything, not even close. Most won't experience anything because they truly don't want to believe in something based on preconceived notions of God. When you want to know, it'll happen. And you'll realize that most of your reasoning for naturalism is more illogical than the existence of a higher level of reality that many humans, myself included, have experienced to varying degrees. Keep an open mind, but just as important, keep an open heart. And remember that love conquers all. A tiny phrase with significant importance on the start of your journey.
