I apologize for any issues with the audio, I don't know what happened but it seems worse this time around

It's honestly impressive how well made this game is. Yes some of the despawn shenanigans are possible, but the levels are crafted so well that almost nobody would ever encounter these glitches in normal gameplay.

15:21 "And this one works properly, " he said while Mario casually teleports across the whole room

Honestly, the D-4 wrong warp feels like exactly the kind of thing the Lost Levels would do. “Tried to get a power up? Wrong warp for you!”

yk I cant believe i didnt realize that simulating a pulley system in a game so small they had to create clouds by turning a bush white would have some janky side effects

Crazy that glitches are still being discovered even though this game is almost 40 years old

The code for the Grand Finale still exists in Super Mario All-Stars, unchanged except for the palette numbers used. Which means we can check the Gigaleak source code for comments, to find out the actual intention of the developers! As it turns out, there are four comments on that block of code:
- Two when setting the palette that simply say "Color"
- One on the "branch if goal reached" instruction, that says "Goul Yes --!"
- And most significantly, on the line where the cloud tile is loaded: a comment that just says "(Cloud)"

Now, it's possible that this comment was an addition by the SMAS developer. But I think it's far more likely that the original NES developer wrote it, in which case - we can say that they _intended_ to use the cloud platform tile there, it's NOT that there used to be a fireworks graphic there that was overridden with the cloud.

I do still think the theory that it was intended as fireworks is plausible, though! But if so, seems like there was no plan to have a separate graphic for it and the platform. The fact that it looks kinda bad may be one of the reason they replaced the whole system.

21:10 Good compilation. Here are some you can add:

Repeatedly pause the game after Mario dies while a moving shell is on screen and/or while a Hammer Bro. is on screen. You can continue to score points if a shell knocks down more enemies, and you can repeatedly hear the death sound if Mario is hit by another hammer. These are documented on my old site as "Score points after dying!" and "Repeated death glitch."

Some pretty insane stuff in there, I was genuinely wowed several times!

5:53 "this is actually a very well known glitch" this is literally the 'average familiarity' xkcd comic

4:17 - I have some distant, childhood memory of being killed this way in the past. I never knew it was the hitbox of the dead platform hitting me over the head, but it was definitely surprising at the time.

I must confess, OSRS was just a bit before my time. Everyone's talking about how everyone here would already be fimiliar with it, but from my fresh eyes it seems like a fun, cute, simple RPG.

"This is probably the first time this bit of code has ever been ran on console." You know, this makes me wonder if code coverage could be implemented in an emulator. Code coverage is often used as a metric for unit testing code, but what if we did that with some of these older games? Compile coverage from hundreds of runs and see what code isn't being run or being run the LEAST. Then somebody with assembly knowledge could look at the code that is missing coverage or isn't hit very often to uncover hidden stuff like this.

It's incredible that no matter how old this game is, new glitches and secrets can still be discovered. I believe the creators were next level geniuses - just like those who find these glitches and learn to use them to their advantage in speedruns.

It freaked me out when you started talking about OSRS on account of, I'm currently playing it

Seriously you never cease to amaze me. I'm 42 years old I remember the day this game was released and thought in 2024 I have seen everything there was to see but you continuously prove me wrong and I love it lol
