I wasn't prepared for the first song we're checking out today. To be honest, neither are you. Also, you might hear someone's guitar playing you recognize here on the charts. Thanks so much for watching!

People hire you because you make every song sound top 10 or top 5. A very, very demanding job. Congrats! and way to go, with 2 in the top 5 :-)

I have known Cody since he was 15 or 16 years old. I did quite a bit of writing and gigging with him back in the day. I'll tell you about Cody. He was gonna play drums for me on a Saturday Night gig. He broke his leg riding a bull on Friday. He just came right on and played that 4 hour gig he just couldn't play the kick pedal. Hihat and snare only. He is just a good Ole Down Home Texican.

Hi Justin I personally listen for the Guitar in songs. Chords, solos and fills. You are such an amazing tasty player. I feel musicians deserve most of the credit. That’s just my take on a song. Thank you for taking the time to do all of this for us guitar fans of yours out there.

Congrats on the success, man! You deserve it. I am not surprised you used the JM for these. It's so good. So underrated for country songs. Man, songs 5 and 4 hit so hard lyrically. 😭

Just finally got to go to the Cody "Dirt Cheap" song video ... WHAT A CRUSHER. There really are no words ... and I'm a word guy. Well written. Well sung. Well produced, engineered and mixed. Guitar playing was OK I guess ... heh-heh! Seriously. I'm nearing 77 and cried like I did the day I lost my first dog. This is what music ought to do to you ... move you in some way, do something to you. This one did. Congratulations for playing your part on it. This oughta make up for those jobs that you have to bring your best box of patience in with you when you go to work. Just thank the Lord for those sparklers when they light your way ...

Hello Justin, I'm not logged into my music YT account but wanted to comment. Was sitting here talking to my son watching videos & said "I want to show you a channel I really like. He covers the Top 5 songs & plays along". I first found an older video from 3 months ago & then this video started playing. Really like these Top 5 videos. It's enjoyable to see how fast you learn the songs by ear. You also move your head a lot like I do when I listen to melodic songs I really like. Yeah, similar to Stevie Wonder. Ha..

Anyhow love the content. Definitely not a musician but I love music. Yes, Dirt Cheap moved me the exact same way. Heard it one day in the car. Came in & told my son about it. It's relatable to a few of us that are probably older. That dog part get's me every single time. Also, just told my son that I bet you get chosen a lot to play on songs. You have a laid back demeanor that wants to make the artist & song sound the best way possible. Heck yeah, I'd hire you! Congrats on the two songs! I'd enjoy seeing what songs you've played on. Maybe, you've already did a video? I'll check.

Justin, really great video for us amateurs. Top tip using guitar parts to frame the song lyrics. Great to see how you pick out the parts (so easily! 😢 for me!) and quickly read the chord progressions. Something to aspire to.

You had me welling up with tears on Cody’s song, Justin. A perfect song, and loved your guitar parts on it! Thanks so much for sharing this video and for sharing your experiences!!

To veer slightly off topic, I am looking forward to hearing "Whiskey or Wine" by Willow Hill on this top-5 countdown sooner or later . . . You have introduced me to two of my favorites, Kip Fox being the other. Awesome songwriting, super vocals and production, and nothing cookie-cutter about these artists. Thanks -- cheers.

For years, I’ve been wanting to see a contest show where several professional musicians are given a barebones track of a new song and they each do something with it.
