Adam Driver Says He's Done with Star Wars Conventions

Adam Driver in a recent interview has stated that he didn't have the best experience at a previous comic-con when The Force Awakens was just about to release. This was the first movie from Disney since they purchased Lucasfilm and the appearance of the mysterious Adam Driver who was going to play Kylo Ren, had thousands of fans in a frenzy. He reports it was scary and he's not anxious to go again.

Hayden Christensen, Ewan McGregor, Mark Hamill, and many other Star Wars actors are often at Star Wars conventions. I hope one day Adam will appear at some comic cons and be open to take photos with his fans like the rest of the prequel and original trilogy actors.

Adam Driver is a pretty private actor, he doesn't seem to like much of the marketing and interview stuff. He seems to be the actor that just loves the acting itself. I can respect that, I am extremely introverted as well, lol.

Also forgetting this dude is ex military, crowds probably make him uncomfortable for a lot more reasons than just “lots of energy” it’s hard to maintain order in a crowd and when your surrounded by strangers bad situations can come from all around. It’s hard to break that mentality when it’s carved in, that any mistake you make can directly get yourself or your friends killed.

Can't blame him at all. I get anxiety just being in a crowded store sometimes. Especially if I have a buggy/cart and it's crowded. Agreed, we are not him, he can do whatever he wants. I respect him. Great actor too. Definitely the best of the new characters.

I think its perfectly acceptable for him to feel the way he does. He's human and he doesn't owe people anything. I think he's an amazing human, and that doesn't mean anything less just because he had a bad experience.

Completely understandable! Adam Driver came from a theater background, didn't really break through the mainstream Hollywood before The Force Awakens, and was used to being semi-anonymous. And almost overnight he can't do things he's generally used to is a scary feeling.

I honestly feel really bad for him and anyone in the cast cuz the starwars fandom seems to be one of thos fandoms that cant comprehend that actors and characters are two different entities and that can be scary especially with what happened to the girl who played rose and the kid who played anakin in the phantom menace i feel just awful for these people

We need to remember that this is a gentleman before Star Wars he was in the military. I think he still managing to deal with very passionate Star Wars Fans.

I really don't blame Adam Driver. After all, most Star Wars fans can be really insufferable. Anyways, Adam Driver carried 7-9 all by himself and his performance as Kylo Ren was spot on. And thank you for your service.

I can’t blame the guy crowds are uncomfortable. Acting unfortunately is lumped on with a lot of other stuff these days and people tend to forget that at the end of the day the only important skill an actor needs is to be good at, well, acting. They shouldn’t have to attend massive conventions and the like if they don’t want to

Adam Driver is x-military. My husband is x-military and has serious anxiety with visiting conventions with me. He doesn't like talking about it, but the massive crowds, tight spaces and chaos is really hard for him, but he attends as part of his therapy. So I completely understand Adam's feelings.

As someone who feels they are an introvert, I get overwhelmed and irritated VERY easily by lots of stuff going on. I don't fault him for it... some people/personalities just don't do well with that much stimulation.
