Dude the explaining of the plastic piece being inside is the exact answer I been looking for, sheesh it’s never clear and that’s what it seems like a lot is going on. Thought I might try these as sharkbite were the only ones making a 3/4 x 1/4 shutoff Tee.

But had no slack and ended up watching your video on installing in a stud bay. Kinda wanted to try sweating anyway.

Used tinning flux, prepped everything, and had no leaks in the slip coupling, tee or valve I ended up installing for my new fridge. Thanks for your great videos. No more saddle valve and looks professional.

when i use sharkbite, even on copper, I will leave the plastic sleeve in just because im to worried about messing up the teeth in the sharkbite.

How do you know the measurements for the copper pipe to be cut?

Might want to deburr the inside and lightly sand the outside to make sure any small burrs are gone.

If you use one on Pex without a stiffner, what would happen? I have two sharkbite shut-off valves, one has the pipe stiffner, and one does not.
(It will be copper on the inlet and pex on the outlet side)
