Reaction to Tina Peters sentencing

With her pleas of leniency denied, former Mesa County Clerk and Recorder Tina Peters was sentenced to nine years for her role in a data breach scheme linked to the 2020 presidential election.

"I'm convinced you would do it all over again if you could. You're as defiant as a defendant as this court has ever seen," said Colorado District Court Judge Matthew Barrett.

During the hearing, Mesa County Commissioner Cody Davis provided witness testimony, speaking of how much this case has cost the county.

"This entire ordeal has cost the county quite a bit of money. We estimate, just the dollar that the taxpayers are on the hook for is well over $1.4 million, and that's just what we can calculate."

Denver Criminal Defense Attorney David Lane said he was surprised at the length of the sentence saying, "That is a clear message to public servants all over Colorado that if you violate the public trust, there will be harsh consequences for you."

Good thing the US Supreme Court didn’t preside over this case or they would have given her immunity

Accountability feels like oppression to these narcissistic, entitled and privileged individuals.

Unfortunately, even 9 years in jail won't cure her stupidity.

That judge spoke so calmly and professionally and detailed every reason why she should serve that long. I really enjoyed listening to him.

The way she talks to the judge just screams entitlement... 9 years ain't enough punishment for her crime against the American people, she should at least get 20.

She's in a cult and her leader would never go out of his way to do anything to help her.
