'You are no hero' | Judge sentences Tina Peters to 9 years behind bars

On Thursday, former Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters was sentenced to eight and a half years in prison after being convicted of several felony charges in an election computer breach case. After that sentence is complete, she will serve six months in jail, for a total of nine years behind bars.

"Your lies are well documented, and these convictions are serious," 21st Judicial District Judge Matthew Barrett told Peters at her sentencing. "I'm convinced you would do it all over again if you could. You're as defiant as a defendant as this court has ever seen."

I love how the judge brought up how her son honored his oath and she didn't. I love how the judge brought ip how her conduct is as damaging as the other people that get sentenced to prison is. I love her how privilege is brought up because it matters here. Just because you aren't the typical prison demographic doesn't mean you don't deserve to go. Justice was served here. We need more of that in this country.

Thank you, Judge Barrell! He was so intelligent and civilized even compassionate; while she lobbed false accusations and insulted he and his courtroom relentlessly. Peters didn't accept one iota of accountability . When she started using the plight of her dead son.... that was just tragic and infuriating to bare witness to.
