Who are the nebulous "these people" she refers to? A jury of her peers evaluated 10 charges. They acquitted on 3, so it isn't like some complete knee-jerk conviction on whatever was indicted. Her attorneys were responsible for bringing in admissible evidence, and "I can imagine a story" moments around the campfire are not evidence. They had only two meaningful choices on strategy: one is that you tear down the prosecution position but otherwise remain silent and see if the presumption of innocence drives the decision, or you bring your own evidence - which a judge must agree is admissible evidence - and use that to provide the alternate story for the jurors to consider. But it has to be based on evidence. Her attorneys are officers of the court, they are just as responsible for proper rules of evidence as the prosecution is. If her attorneys can use imaginary conspiracies then the prosecution could play the very same game.
