It's hard to convey to kids today how awesome these sequences were. When the series aired, the Internet was in its infancy, it's not like it is today, where if you miss an episode you can easily find it, and then just read online to see what happened. Some of these were cutting edge CGI tech at the time and kids would eagerly wait the show episodes to see the new digimon and brag to others in school that they saw it!

It's cool to see the full evolution sequence for Angemon with Takeru's original device since we never got one in the original series. I'm glad the 02 footage was mixed in the video. Too bad Tailmon never got a proper one. :(

Those eight Digimons' Digivolutions were based on virtual pets version 1 to 4 and Pendulum.
Taichi's/Tai's: version 1 (except MetalGreymon keeping colors of original Greymon) and Pendulum Metal empire
Yamato's/Matt: version 2 and Pendulum Nightmare Soldiers
Sora's: Pendulum Wind Guardians
Koshiro's/Izzy's: Pendulum Nature Spirits
Mimi's: version 4 and Pendulum Wind Guardians
Joe's: Pendulum Deep Savers (Vikemon yet to be officially Zudomon's next form. Those two were furry walruses.)
Takeru's/TK's: Pendulum Virus Busters (champion to ultimate only)
Hikari's/Kari's: Nature Spirits and Virus Busters (Ophanimon having more Digivolution resemblances than Magnadramon yet to be introduced)

Betamon to Seadramon was version 1 while 3 Syakomons, Crabmon, Floramon and
Gotsumon were Pendulums.

Those eight were the only ones in 1999 series whose Digimons could surpass champion level while the other four needed to DNA Digivolve to surpass champion level.
