They need to reboot this season and give everyone a Double Spirit Evolution
The other kids became useless after Takuya and Kouji unlocked that ability, because they were the only ones strong enough to fight the enemies that came after.
If they all had the Double Spirit they could've fought everything as a team and not really need the Hyper Spirit until much later.

The other kids really got the short end of the stick by not getting Fusion Evolutions and by being benched for most of the second half of the series, especially Koichi, dude didn't even get a Beast Spirit Evolution sequence.
