New to knitting and have learned as a Thrower, but was interested in trying out picking for speed. Thanks for the advice.

Total flicker. I tried every other way, and it’s the only method that feels natural.
I also wrap my yarn weird; two counter-clockwise turns on the pinky, one on the middle, and over the index. For some reason I have a hard time maintaining tension, and that’s the only thing that works for me. I’m not TERRIBLY fast, but I’d say I’m not too bad for someone who’s been knitting 7 months.

Very Pink Knits is sort of the “Queen of Flicking”. However, if you watch very many flicking videos, you will discover that the direction she tensions her yarn around her index finger (behind and then on top) is different than lots of others flickers (directly from right needle to index finger all on top). At first I thought I could never flick because I had great difficulty tensioning the yarn in the direction she does. Either way, it is still called flicking and she is still the Queen on the throne😄
