I became a fan of this musician thanks to this song after I left my country for work (im spanish) it still makes me cry sometimes :, ( I think the spanish and turkish experience of migration must have been very similar. Just millions of people leaving home cuz the local economy sucks

Its all about the lyrics for this song man. It is meaningful for people who live outside their native country.

"Gurbet" is the soul of Anatolian people. It's more ethnic music than rock or traditional. The lyrics are unbelievable, meant a lot for Turkish people. The ethnic instrument iz "Zurna".
Please check out also Zafer Dilek - Yekte.

Songs title meaning Homesick, maybe you did not realized but in cover there Germany Flag colours. Song is about worker's at Germany (after WW2 Turkey send tens of thousands worker to germany to help their economy and knowhow exchange. In a way these guys build today's Germanys economic power).

Note: Yar means love, Yarim mean lover in Turkish / Farsi language. And in this context lover is homeland.

Why not checking Selda Bagcan's "Bir kar yagar ince ince". Selda Bagcan is a strong protest Anatolian rocker of 70-80's. Still performing great and lately becoming popular in underground open air festivals in Europe.

This song is tribute for my ancestors who moved from anatolia to germany to earn some money. They wanted to go back after a time, but then they became children in germany and stayed.

That horn like wind is a mixture of "duduk", "Balaban" and "zurna" I guess ;)

Hey Rob, great choice. You definitely must try “Cem Karaca-Terketmedi Sevdan Beni” It’s one of the first progressive Anatolian Rock songs. It’s a great arrangment of a poem of well known Turkish poet “Ahmed Arif”

This song reminds us a movie from 1970s . And best funny actor kemal Sunal and şener şen. And the song is the story of turkish immigrants who went to germany in 1970s to work . There are 2 million turkish people in germany
