Volkswagen T-Roc R 2022 Review - First Drive

The 2022 Volkswagen T-Roc R has arrived Down Under, hot on the heels of the bigger Tiguan R, with the larger-still Touareg R to follow in November.

Of these three all-new R-badged Volkswagen SUVs, the T-Roc R is the smallest and cheapest at under $60,000, yet it still packs a 221kW turbo-petrol all-wheel drive powertrain that makes it almost as quick as the new Golf R hot hatch.

There’s no drift mode and the first Volkswagen T-Roc R might not be quite as powerful as the German brand’s quickest Golf, but this rapid small SUV is more practical and can still hit 100km/h in under five seconds.

There is a Grid Edition of this model out now, which is 5k cheaper for a few less goodies but still same performance.

What roads did you drive on? They look good for some driving fun

I frankly like the Lapiz blue interior. It breaks up the monotony of having piano gloss black which is highly reflective, looks awful when dusty, leaves a lot of finger prints and highly scratchable which makes it harder to maintain.

Nice looking car but 60k seems a bit high
