MFJ can provide you everything from amplifiers to antenna tuner‘s from antennas to noise cancelers.

LIVE. Not scripted! Not Edited in ANY WAY!

The toughest ham radio review of a radio you could ever see. Fully live. No preplanned QSO’s... I simply turned the radio on and started shooting live.

Two DX QSO’s with some very fine guys. Meet Frank K4RVN from his shack in Lithia Springs, Georgia (2,660 miles from my QTH) and Dave, N4PBC in Palm Bay, Florida (3,400 miles away from my QTH)

What you see here is what you should get with the incredible quality of the Yaesu 101 D/MP series of Ham Radio transceivers.

Most YouTube videos centered around ham radio are of course pre-produced, then edited and uploaded to YouTube.

This video is not.

It was shot live on the early morning hours of Wednesday, August 19, 2020. You’ll see and hear my “mistakes and successes.”

The audio quality during my transmissions is distorted due to the audio processing gear I use to produce my YouTube videos.

I apologize upfront for that. But a 100 W transmitter can create havoc with audio processing gear and again, remember, this was done LIVE.

You can see for yourself what sets this rig apart and why it’s at the top of Sherwood’s receiver list.

I’ll show the effect of Yaesu’s famous “VC Tune” and how it can offer the radio enthusiast a quiet passband that you can even see on the waterfall display to pull in stations clearly and how it clears away most of the “environmental noise” that nearly all non directional antennas inherently have.

My output power for this video was only half that available on the 101MP, transmitting at 100 watts.

You’ll find 100 watts is more than enough to make a “cross country QSO”

You can only imagine how much farther the signal travels when you utilize the full 200 watt transmitter on the 101MP.

I’m grateful and BLESSED to have this radio. And I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT to anyone serious about Ham Radio.

I’m using just a simple dipole, a ZS6BKW at 48 feet high for this video. Even with a “compromised antenna“ the 101 just shines. Enjoy!

FYI: sorry the audio for receive was a bit low on this. I had a family asleep close by. Hope you enjoy the video. 73’s, Larry de K7HN

If Yaesu had just called VCT a "pre-selector", which it is, maybe some of the u-tube reviewers would have had a clue as what it actually does and how to use it. 73 Jack KZ5A

So why you running it at half power when it runs smooth as silk at 200
