Why is the U.S. Strategic Stockpile of Silver Gone? Why Does the U.S. Not Want to Stack Silver?

In this video I talk to a bullion dealer about the U.S. Strategic Stockpile of Silver and why it was sold off in 1981. The U.S.A used to stack silver and hold a strategic stockpile of silver, but they do not anymore. They do still hold a large gold stockpile although this is widely debated. We talk about the reason that the U.S. strategic silver stockpile was depleted. It took the U.S. about 3 years to sell off all of their silver stockpile. They started selling the silver after the silver price run up in 1979 and 1980 fueled by the Hunt brothers buying up silver. The silver was sold to the highest bidder and much of it went to California Crown Mint which made many different silver rounds and silver bars from the silver. Excellent topic! I have several of the US Assay Office silver Trade Units, and I love, love, love, them! Actually, I picked up one that I found from Harry's Coin Shop when I visited Oregon from Louisiana on vacation in September! I was so happy to have found exactly one of these rounds in a random tube of Buffalo rounds, and I added it to my buy tray immediately :) It was the only trade unit round in the shop at the time, and it was my favorite of all of the silver that I purchased from Harry that day!

It was great to see and hear some history about these rounds, and the silver in general that was formerly stored at the US Assay Office! Keep up the great work guys!

It's not worth any more than the amount of silver in it. You all need to understand this concept. Collect more to hold it. Not for wealth expectations. It's never going to make you rich. It's only going to keep up with the greed being produced. It's just the edge to survive.
