Fix Your FPS When CPU-Bound With This Tool!.. | Process Lasso CPU-Specific Affinity Guide For Frames

I know I already made a video on Process Lasso, but due to popular demand, I wanted to make a deep dive into how to tweak CPU affinity. It is extremely dependent on what CPU you have and how many extra cores you have to spare, so knowing what general situation you are in via this video hopefully helps. As always, thank you so much for the support :)

Thank you so much for watching! I hope this helped some of you figure out how to schedule processes around and, as always, ensure you know what tasks you are moving to what threads. Be careful not to go overboard with scheduling! Please ask away in the discord or streams if you have any questions and links are in the more section if you need additional info / downloads!

perfect timing. Was just in the middle of binging your other process lasso vids and testing in game. Cheers!

Glad someone finally gave a voice to this topic, I've been telling people for so dame long about this. lol

It’s really nice to have someone explain it for idiots because I don’t want to watch another video just to find out what was actually talked about

Great video as always 👍

Yay! Great video! Thanks for the exhaustive explanation...it really is very soothing to know I am not making mistakes and I understand this so much better now. Klem for President!

7800x3d Tarkov:

I usually had it on disable SMT with just the physical cores running. There was little to no diferrence just having all cores checked with Tarkov. Small improvement at most.

-tested in multple live scav raids
-with the 7800x3d I couldve just left it on all cores and the difference would be minimal...but when you have recording software, streaming, and other stuff going on... allocating cores helps a lot.

Thank you so much! Been troubleshooting microstutters for a week and this helped me almost perfectly smooth out my frametime <3 (used cpu 0 and 1 for background task and rest for games on my 8 core Ryzen 7 5700X)

Back in Shattered Horizon's heyday, one of the devs told me to disable core 0 for that game to improve performance. Years ago one of the devs from Process Lasso created a Window 7 specific program just for me (I honestly can't remember what it was for XD), that he later made sharable on their site. Good devs for sure.

Im really happy after my comment on the other video you gave it a go with the ecores. Its really easy on the system and its not bugging you at all which is wierd xD

I play Elden Ring and that game has insane stutters, micro stutters (thanks From Software). I set affinity core 0 unchecked on 12600K CPU and boom stable 60 FPS. Thank you for detailed guide.

Do you recommend basically setting the affinity for every single process that isn't the game you're playing to core 1 ? Cpu 0 and 1.

For 8 hyperthreaded cores
- cpu 2-15 assigned to game
- cpu 0, 1 assigned to everything else ?

Thank you for holding my hand through this

Anything I need to check or uncheck in Lasso for my 7800x3d…. I’m aware the 3-D processors with two CCD’s are different than mine. I just needed to know if I need to set anything in Lasso for better performance besides right clicking DCS world and set CPU priority to high performance.

Tarkov is a funny game, since it's kinda CPU heavy, but at the same time it only uses like 4 threads out of 16 on my i9 11900k. And it also choses threads starting with number 8, when the first two cores should be the most high performing cores with all the in built OC tech enabled according to Intel's website.

How do we know about how much cores should we give to the processes? You've said like in 17:14 you don't recommend browsers to be on just one core. I have a i9-9900k which has 8 cores - 16 threads. I was thinking about giving only CPU 0-1-2-3 to background processes like Discord, Chrome, GHub etc. and giving the remaining cores to Tarkov specifically. Will 2 cores be enough for all of the background processes?

I recommend "Save Named Affinity" and name them Games and Programs for example, and change the affinity for them. then you just do CPU Affinity > Always > Program/Gaming depending on what you want it to be so you dont have to do it over and over again. (edit: i just noticed you showed it later in the video)

Watched the whole video, no idea what Im supposed to set. Did i miss it, or was it just information without practical use?

Hi man, first, MANY THANKS for the guide.
I have an 8700k, thus, 6 cores.
I tend to run only tarkov, so no browser, discord, or anything heavy. Does it make sense to allocate 1 full core for other stuff in background (nvidia control panel, logitech ghub, razor synapse, basically, software for my hardware) and the other 5 for tarkov, or all 6 to tarkov as the rest of the softwares doesn't need much?
Probably this would defeat the affinity, no? As in this way they would not be solely for tarkov...

You forget that you can name the cpu affinity rules... for example of you have 2 CCD's and you wan't an application to run only on on CCD1, you make an affinity rule and when you want a process to run on just CCD1, just click cpu affinity -> always -> CCD1
