Dear Chinese Radio Manufacturers.. STOP Doing THIS!

Chinese radio manufacturers are just doing the same old thing over and over again.... What's something unique you'd like to see - the return of monoband 23cm radios, handhelds on 28 MHz or something else?

We need more radios with 6 meter, 220 and 900 MHz radios

I absolutely agree with everything said in the video!

Agreed wholeheartedly. Not only do we need more options available for the more ‘obscure’ bands. But, they need to be affordable as well.

I think the reason the features being so similar on most Chinese HTs is because the available radio chips define what is possible. Selling these radios to the commercial (eg building sites) customers they make them as cheaply as possible using standard chips. So more assembly than individual design. 73 Ed.

A microwave radio like the 905 would be pretty cool. I'd like an updated g90 too.
An HT that does SSB natively would be awesome.

100% agree. There were a few different models in the US that were 10m HTs. All under $200 For mobile the President radios are all 10 meters I believe. I would love to see a tri band with 12, 10, and 6 meters.

I believe Wouxun did and excellent job with the KG-Q10 quad band portable, but i also 10% agree with your vision on this, i am in the same boat when it comes to them pumping out the same boring trash over and over.

When the Quansheng came out it immediately caught my interest because it was hackable. I'm still waiting for Quansheng to come out with something new and better but they may just rest of the success of the models they have. Xeigu had the right idea. I use a G90 and I love that radio. I have been able to make contacts from California to Hungary, which is 6, 100 miles away. There is a large population of amateur radios folks who would buy a handheld that did something different in terms of bands. The Baofeng was my first radio so it holds a special place in my heart. However, unless they expand the bands, I'm probably not buying another one. Great video. Thanks...73...KN6KNB

A budget single band hand held on 23cm would surely sell bucket loads ... and would be a huge benefit in justifying the 60 MHz of spectrum we have.

Agreed ! Brought 2 x Baofeng V/UHF HH's as they were approx $50AUS. If they included 6M = awesome

This is something I have wondered also. I would have to agree that I think they would sell well.

Handheld with SSB on 2m/70cm is my wishlist. Or DMR/Dstar/FM/SSB.

6 meter and 1.25 meters would be really welcome. I would love to find a 6 meter all mode like the old Ranger 5054DX.

Good morning Hayden. I agree 100% I have a FT-5800 good rig. Something i have been wanting to look into is getting a UV-K5 modding the filters to get it working on 23cm.

Haydan, I got me a tyt-9800 I got 10m/6m/2m/400mhz fm radio Krisy N6KV. I got my H3 & H8 with their new firmware that they released & it allows 220mhz & receives from 17 Mhz to 600 Mhz that you can transmit on HF

also remember that these radios are not primarily ham radios. they are more widely used by budget military, security, event management, shops, building sites etc. hams are in no way primary use customers

I got my license in 1999, and yes, the market has changed. My first radio was the ic t8a, a ht with 6m as well as 2m and 70cm. And the Yaesu vx5r was also out. Shortly after that Icom brought over a 23cm FM and dstar mobile rig, and Icom put 23cm fm into the t81a.

But they didn't sell that well. Instead we bought the Baofengs that came out in the 2000s.

What does excit me is what all is being hacked in the uv k5. And I am relatively pleased that TIDRADIO seems to be going there own way instead of just another Baofeng clone.

That said, I am interested in seeing something new and interesting.

If one of them would make a modern HT CB that did SSB is would stay sold out. 10m would be a great bonus. The only ones out there now are coming up on 10 years old.
