Washington AG Office filing lawsuit against O'Reilly Auto Parts
Показать описание
The Washington Attorney General's Office is filing a lawsuit against O'Reilly Auto Parts, accusing them of discrimination and retaliation against their pregnant employees.
The lawsuit claims that O'Reilly the company practice unlawfully refused their pregnant workers of reasonable workplace accommodations, which includes "the ability to sit or rest, limit how much they lift or handle hazardous materials, allow flexibility for restroom breaks and pump breastmilk for their newborn babies after returning to work postpartum."
The lawsuit also alleges that O'Reilly managers routinely retaliated against the women who sought them by demoting them, threatening to terminate their employment and forcing them to take unpaid leave or quit.
The lawsuit claims that 22 people suffered as a result of O'Reilly's actions.
The AG's Office opened the investigation after getting two complaints from pregnant employees. The AG's Office says there were 134 requests for pregnancy accommodations were made in Washington between January 2019 and February 2023. The AG's Office says O'Reilly was "unresponsive and uncooperative."
