WATCH: Washington AG Bob Ferguson announces lawsuit against Meta

Washington State Attorney General Bob Fergusen is holding a press conference Tuesday morning to announce a lawsuit about Meta and its impact to young users.

"I’ve been attorney general now for 10 years," Ferguson said. "I think this can fairly be described as one of the most robust, multi-state consumer protection efforts that our office has ever seen or been a part of."

Washington is joined by dozens of other US states, and the District of Columbia, in its lawsuit against Meta Platforms Inc.

The fact is many parents use a cell phone as a distraction entertainment for thier children often starting around one year old and moving forward. I personally have seen seven to ten year Olds throwing positively destructive tantrums when replacing or simply getting a phone. I choose when getting phones for my sons to get them text capability but not internet capable phones.

Peer pressure has always existed. You have a choice whether to give into it or not.I don't have any social media accounts. And I don't want one. I have phone and text. It's more than enough for me. I can visit people via web cam. There should be an age restriction on social media accounts if minors can't handle it.

Why not sue cigarette or alcohol companies too then? Sue Amazon and Temu on behalf of people with shopping addictions? Or toy companies that market specifically for kids lol. Wasting our tax dollars on trivial BS that won't get anywhere anyway.

I encourage this lawsuit as the last few generations have been hugely impacted by social media. it made us more anxious, we literally present ourselves with profiles to show only the best of the best in our lives. This s*it made us judge ourselves more than anybody might realize.
I see people in the comments judging the AG on the topic of the lawsuit, why not clean the drugs on the streets or other pressing matters —— but, guys, are you really blind to see the impact social media has had on us? Drugs are too hard to get off the streets but a lawsuit against Meta is welcome.
