You left a key part out! Not many people know this! Did you notice after the plastic cools it gets dull again? When you get the plastic good and shiny immediately pour water over it and it will stay that way!! See in the video where the torch is getting that plastic really shiny?? Do a section at a time and pour water over it before it gets dull again. .. oh your welcome lol

I have done this but my method involved sanding off the old oxidation first because all your doing is melting the old oxidation into the fresh plastic underneath. The best method is to sand it first. Work with a lower grit then work with a much higher grit then use the torch method. I used the sanding method, Scotchbrite, polish and torch method and that gave me a true factory finish with no hazing or splotchiness.

I just did this and it works great. 2nd step was to use a scratch remover hand polish and then it was like a mirror.

Be very carefull when doing this, if you stay in one spot for too long you will make a hole in it, dont drink beer while doing it

WOW that was easy... way easier than boiled linseed oil and paint thinners (which doesn't do diddly squat.)

Should put a Diffuser on the end of your torch so you do not burn the plastic

I've done this on black trim on a jeep. It kind of does work but causes some spots to be blotchy. Now I just use black shoe polish on my trim which will last about three months.

Don’t do this it just brings the oils in the plastics to the surface and after awhile they will dry out and get brittle

Did this around 6 years ago to my garden furniture it brings the oils to the top

I done the same thing with a heat gun before but the propane torch does seem faster.

A heat gun works just as well just a little slower on my red Honda H3011 riding mower oxidized plastic body.

Get the oxidation off first and it would have looked good. Just a little effort to do it right.
