I did this on a faded plastic picnic table. It worked incredibly!!

By chance, when working on a dirt bike project CR 125 back in 1989, I discovered this little trick when using a hand held propane torch near the (completed faded, oxidized) fender of the bike, for a completely different repair. Sometimes unintended consequences work for the better.... but, heat gun is much better than the torch, no doubt

I found an old toy motorcycle outside (plastic for kids) that I'm going to try and restore. It's great to know I don't need to paint it or something. This looks super simple and I'm very excited to try it! Thanks!

My kayak it was a beautiful neon green and is now like mint green. The kayak is an expensive one and still in perfect shape other than the fading

What a great tip, thank you. I’m going to try it on my faded plastics on my old scooter tomorrow.

Awesome! I'm refurbishing an old 120qt ice chest because it's a custom fitting piece for my boat. I can't just buy a new one, they don't make this size anymore. I'm planning on spraying it with bedliner after fixing a few dents, dings and small holes but the very top lip I don't want to do with bedliner as it would affect the seal from the top. I need to use your trick on this little strip of plastic just at the top of the walls where the lid lays down to.

For cleaning spots off anything plastic ( phones, etc) use Pledge and buff with terry cloth. Leaves a great shine, too.

Awesome! We’ve got some plastic outside chairs I’m gonna try this on. Excited to see how they turn out. Thanks!

fantastic trick with the heat gun. Did you know that these plastics melt about the same temperature as solder? You can repair cracked plastic by adding more from the back side and melting it in to weld the crack shut. If you do it ion the pretty side it will not look good. But if it's broekn or failing this is a great trick too!
