After reading 10s of articles and watching tons of useless youtube videos I got the exact info I was looking for. Nice informative video. Lots of love

Yeah, it's generally around 3 years for most big brands and sometimes 4 for flagship phones. From my experience as long as your apps are up to date you're pretty safe but obviously not as much as if the OS was patched as well. There are good mobile antivirus apps but if your phone is mid to low range and getting on a bit the A/V apps can really slow them down. Better safe than sorry of course but again, as long as the apps are up to date, you only get apps from the play store and you manage them carefully using an older phone should be fine.

This is a bunch of overblown crap. I just talked to a representative from my cell phone company and he has been in the business for over 20 years. According to him, cell phones cannot catch viruses or anything like that. And the only way that they can really be hacked is if you are stupid enough to click on something that you shouldn’t. He told me that my Samsung s8 plus is a great phone and he physically checked it out and there was nothing wrong with it. It should last me for several years and I can still do online banking and other activities as long as I don’t click on something stupid. So this video and others like it are just trying to talk people into spending unnecessary money. But just because a cell phone is not supported anymore doesn’t mean it can’t be used so this video is a bunch of crap.

They make it that way on purpose, so You have to buy a new phone every couple years. They also make most of the Apps and Games obsolete for that same reason. Even though that expensive phone could possibly last ten years.

Because they want you to upgrade your phone year after year.

Samsung now gives 5 years on the galaxy s22 ultra. I hope they will expand it to 7 years like germany and EU want to force manufactures. I don't want to buy a 1250€ which loses a lot of value after 5 years... and beeing forced to switch after 5 years...

Hello, I have a question on Employee privacy & work. I am fairly sure that my employer (& previous employer) somehow have listened to me through my personal iphone device off work hours and then repeated things I say back to me at work, unrelated to work, to mess with me for fun, they are harassing me & I don't know how this is possible to get access to my personal device mic off work hours, I do clock in through ukgworkforce app, but my last job didnt ever have an app on my personal device. Any help on this topic would be very helpful for how to protect my personal privacy outside of work hours & avoid harrassment. Any suggestions for learning more about privacy protection? Thanks in advanced.

I'm confused, I thought it was the "Operating System" and "Application Software" that needed to be kept up to date with the latest security patches and NOT the actual mobile phone! In the case of my 11year old Desktop PC, I just keep the "Windows Operating System" and my "Application Software" up to date. A few years ago when Microsoft stopped supporting Windows 7, I simply installed a free upgrade to Windows 10 and keep this up to date via "Windows Update". I haven't needed to change any of my PC's hardware.
So what's the issue with mobile phones? Is it a BIOS issue? If not, can we keep the IOS or Android OS up to date via a 3rd party? Please enlighten us.

I like my old Pixel 3 XL. I've had it since new. On stock OS it stopped getting security updates October 2021 .... I installed Lineage OS ver 20 on it tonight and that has security patches that are current (January 2024), wow ! During install you can include all the Google apps too (if you want to) so the OS seems very similar.

It is not the Phone IT IS THE "Operating System" that has the Updates stopped. And you can UPDATE the OS ( both Apple IOS or Android) for FREE. And use Internet security software like normal people do

cyber security is no joking. as soon as your money is transferred out from your bank to crypto account, no one can trace it anymore. another alternative perhaps is to subscribe to android antivirus from norton, or other parties. It can be expensive, but you save money from buying much older version of phone that has stylist look (Galaxy S10 for example) and without need to worry about security update because you have 3rd party software.

But Windows has 10 years more support than Android

That is over-dramatic. First there is a difference between feature updates and critical updates. Many OS providers will still backport critical updates. Even if there is a bug it doesn't mean there is an exploit, or if there is then it can be very limited. The message sent to an Apple phone that will crash it is a major bug, but apart from a minor annoyance it doesn't have any actual security implications.

You also failed to mention the effects of locking your phone to an OS, for instance Apple stopping you from "jailbreaking" a phone. Thanks to the Android community, I installed one of the latest versions on a Samsung Galaxy S2. Support for that probably ended a decade ago.
