I started with a 55g, stocked with rainbows now. Just got my first 10g a month ago for my gfs first fish, a betta. The 10 gal is a nice easy tank to maintain, much less work then my heavily planted 55 lol

I enjoy the 10 gallon. Great tank for the hardier species since water parameters can still be a little dicey depending on stocking options

A 10g kit tank is the most cost effective way to get into the hobby if you are on a budget. It is also my go to size for kids wanting 1st tank to learn with.
Wishing you and Joanna a Happy New Year!

I like a 10g. You can fit it anywhere and stock it with all those little wonders.

I have two 10 gallons that I just love. One is heavily planted w/ just amanos and the other has cory cats & white cloud minnows. I have other larger tanks, including a 65, but I still come back to really loving my 10s. Easy to clean and well, they're cute! And my water in them always looks so amazingly crystal! So YES, they are worth it!

Hi. I'm new to fish keeping. I currently have 3 tanks. I have a new 10 gallon aquarium with a Betta, 2 CoryDoras, 6 Neon Tetras, and 1 Mystery Nail. I just uploaded a video of my 10 gallon and would appreciate any comments or suggestions to make my tank better. I went to buy plants this weekend but my LFS will have their plants restocked on Thursday so I will be going back soon! My other tank holds 4 female Bettas. Not really sure if that's considered a sorority but I will be uploading a video soon. My last tank just has 1 Betta in it. Thank you so much.

Hi Jason,

Am very new into the aquarium hobby. My first tank was a 55 gallon, with lots of live plants and various fish species.

I just set up and cycled a heavily planted 10 gallon tank. Put in a few nerite snails and an Otocinclus to start off with.

So the point is, I actually prefer the 10 gallon in some ways. Quick to set up, easy to clean \ water change and overall neat appearance.

Thanks for reading and also doing what you do by making these wonderful, educational videos that help new hobbyists.

Personally, I learned a lot by your videos and I thank you for that....😁

Happy New Year and keep up the great work you are doing. 👍

Well done as usual. I've never felt that a 70 gallon tank is any easier to maintain than a 10 gallon tank. Depends how it's stocked. I think you should learn on a smaller tank. Larger tanks crash slower and generally more difficult if you don't maintain it. The fish in larger tanks experience more "chronic stressors" resulting in more bacterial problems that result from this long term stress. Just my opinion.

Happy New Year Jason. Really enjoy your videos. I have great success with tanks from 20 gallon up. I have a Betta 10 gallon and I am struggling with organics and sediment looks like brown dust everywhere. It is filtered with a Ehiem 150 and a small sponge to help with the dirt. I belive it is due to either the tight sealed lid I have to stop the snails who like to escape or my household water but my other larger tanks are stable and my plants are growing great. Now I am making a mesh lid and running Polyfilter pads. To tell you how bad it is my Anubias are dying. Hoping to solve this small tank issue.

Great video. I didn't like 10s for a long time but now they are playing an important role in my fishroom

I personally have 20, 10 gallon tanks for my guppies. They are one of favorite sized tanks. Also do you have a video about stocking ideas for a 29?

Excellent video! 😀

One thing I would like to add is the sizing of the tanks also depends on which country you live in because here in the UK the tank sizes are measured completely differently to the US & Canada so here in Europe we would probably start on 17L / 4 1/2 gallons for a nano and also another example of this would be my goldfish started off on a 54L / 14 gallon tank and have been there quite happily for the last 2 1/2 years and it’s only now that I’m having to upgrade because they recently started to go on a massive growth spurt and now I need to upgrade ASAP.

Even then it’s been difficult because generally, our store bought tanks are no more than usually about 30/40 gallons which in the US/Canada is considered small but in other countries they are pretty big tanks. But it can be done provided you do your research and bare in mind that if later on, you need to upgrade to bigger tanks, you are able to buy them relatively easily. 😎 Unlike me who is now saving like mad because I need to have my new goldfish aquarium tank especially made because it’s proving really difficult to buy the tank size that I need and being quoted £500 for a 300L/75 gallon tank. (Including the cabinet to house it on.) 😕
