But what if you hate partying?
Not really a disadvantage, isn't it?

There are *good things* about being a *young parent* too. Having *more energy* to play with your child, being able to *relate more, * all this applies especially later on in life :)

"Your poor parents must be so disappointed in you." WHO EVEN SAYS THAT?

BuzzFeed, make a video about women who are tired of hearing "Your biological clock is ticking"
I get bothered WAY too often with "When are you having kids?"

my mom was pregnant with my older brother at 17, when she was giving birth to him one of the nurses commented "that's why kids should'nt have kids"..

Listen, if someone became a mother at 17 or younger, I do mentally look down on them a bit because I think they threw themselves into adulthood way too fast and they just made a poor life choice.
But regardless of if you are 16 or 30, being a mother is *hard*, so give them the respect they deserve.

But questions like: "Is he your little brother" or "Are you the babysitter" are both valid questions. It's not common to see a young mother, so people who would normally see a babysitter or an older sister waking the child must be confused. And suppose you just assumed that every young woman waking with a baby was a young mother. Asking "Are you the mom" to a babysitter is way worse than asking "Are you the babysitter" to the mom.

Once at the store the check out lady went up to my mom and said, "Oh, so you must be the baby-sitter?"

I know several people who were young mothers who got married a year or two out of high school (Ok know them through their husbands) and had kids very young, and they complain about this all the time. People make all types of comments just like the ones in the video to them and make all sorts of assumptions, yet everyone of them got their degrees, have a career (one social worker, one accountant, two teachers, and one in NFP Finance), was married, and love their lives (the oldest of which has been married for 13 years and three kids, but had the first a little over a year after being married). People need to stop judging young mothers and assuming things about them.

As a young mom I totally Identify with this. I had my son when I was 21 and I already look young to begin with. In my community it's normal to have kids young (military) but when I go back home I have gotten some odd questions. I've been asked how my parents feel about my having a baby. it totally catches me off gaurd. I'm like their happy?? when I explain I was married for a year before we got pregnant on purpose, it Shocks people. I know it's unusual but I can definitely see in their face they didn't expect me to be married and living away from my family. it's not that it's not natural to be inquisitive but even the normal seeming questions get old and honestly are no one's business.

This sums up my life every time I go to a parents evening, or go anywhere with my daughter, yet I'm always the mom who hand makes toys and costumes for school events, bakes goodies for gatherings, and has themed sleepovers and volunteers for everything, and still hold down a career. Young moms rule!!!
