How to Factory Erase and Update the LILYGO T-Echo | Meshtastic

In this video I show you how to Factory Erase (Reset), Update the Firmware, and Test a LILYGO T-Echo device on windows. The goal of this video is for a default Meshtastic setup.

Quick Guide:

1. Attach the Antena
2. Plug the device into your computer
3. Install Python
4. Factory Erase (Reset) 1:16 - 7:50 (If you have Python Skip 4:18 -6:50)
4. Update the Firmware 7:50 - 9:25
5. Testing the device: 9:26 - End

IMPORTANT! (I labeled the top button wrong in the video)
Reset Button (Top Button):
* Single press: Resets the device. (A single tap on the top button DOES NOT turn the device on)
* Double press: Puts the device into bootloader mode which allows you to update the firmware.

Program/Power Button (Bottom Button):
* Single press: Changes the information page displayed on the device's screen.
* Double press: Turns the screen backlight on/off and sends an adhoc ping of the device's position to the network.
* Long press: Signals the device to shutdown after 5 seconds.

I can get everything right, but even though Python, paths, and verification happen, I CANNOT get the noproto command to erase and reboot my t echo. Tried 30 times. No go. Ended up just updating firmware without the erase.😢

I got some syntax errors using python and looking up those errors it said i had to run the exact same commands in Powershell not python. i did those commands in Ps and everything worked

im trying to understand the directory part of the python step. I don't know what directory python has for my meshtastic node. Its on devices as COM7 and under my computer as the D:/ drive. What to I input to the system properties part?

ok so still baffled by WHAT you typed into Enviornmental variable / path to get Python to work. I initially just copied the update over but now I accidently locked myself out of my T-Echo and can no longer make changes and MUST factory reset to start over. I need help! You said something like "place the directory for the python place the meshtastic something something etc." It was unintelligible and no picture was shown. Can you type in here what goes in there?

I have had the T-Echo crash so hard that it does not reboot after pushing firmware. I found I can push to the device and then get the erase routine to run just by connecting to the device by USB to serial emulation (port ttyACM00 on my computer) and pressing any key. No Python needed.
