Johnny Cash was one of the most important country artists of the ‘50s, ‘60s, and ‘70s, but his music feels truly timeless. The Man in Black was an influence on all kinds of music, and he continued to record acclaimed music up until his death in 2003, with even more being released after he passed away.

Cash had struggled with his health for more than a decade, but things got considerably worse in the last year of his life, and his condition only worsened when his wife, June Carter Cash, passed away. Let’s take a look at what the final 12 months of Johnny Cash’s life were like.

I have so much respect for this man. I was introduced to his music by watching the Walk The Line movie and after that I became hooked. He was a wonderful man and I'm glad he didn't have to live too long without June after she passed.
I cry every time I hear his version of Hurt

Going to school in Arkansas, I was amazed at how many kids were just itching to tell you how they were somehow distantly related to Johnny Cash. XD

I love his older songs. Hey anybody ever noticed that history is almost his story like something that happened in the past. Makes you wonderful.
