Crown knot

This tutorial was made by viewer request and demonstrates how to tie the crown knot and how to add strands to it.
This knot is often used to make keychains, bracelets and even leashes. It also serves as a transitional knot with which you can tie the turk's head terminal knot and other stopper knots.
It can also serve as a semi permanent finish for a round braid. It holds it in place nicely while you work on a more permanent knot.

All in all, I consider this knot to be extremely important. It would probably get into the top 10 most important knots you need for working with rope and paracord.

I was a Sea Scout back in the 60’s in PDX. I loved marlinspike seamanship but I’ve forgotten so much. Your videos are bringing it all back, as well as skills I never had before.

Finally. I was missing the simple fact that your last cord goes THRU the last loop. I knew I was missing something easy. THANK YOU!

The first crown knot tutorial that I actually understand, thank you!
I only wish you made an entire rope thing with two cords as a tutorial, just like this video, so I could just braid along!

Thanks for this. I wanted to make a rope fender for my boat, this is the clearest & easiest video I've seen on how to do the crown knot

This video is the first I've come across that makes sense to me. Thank you for explaining what you were doing while doing it.

thanks I used this tut to make a dog toy to replace a store bought one that my dog loved. I finished it up wit a four strand diamond knot... honestly rope tying and basically any form of knot tying has always been on the "not rocket science, but it's close" list.... ranks right on up there with tangled metal clothes hangers lmfao but hey I got it and it turned out pretty much the way I wanted it... I was a little stumped as to how long to make my strands but using 16 feet of climbing style/size rope I was able to make a 10 inch long dog toy. (if that helps any would be dog toy makers out there)

I tried to follow you on 3 cords but I couldn't make the crown knots as the pattern in the clip. Could you demonstrate crown knots by tying 3 cords for me please? Thank you so much.
