Alternate Crown Sinnet - How to Tie Crown Knot this is also known as Crowning. When tied in the same direction it creates a spiral patter as shown in the video below. When Alternate Crowning, this then creates a square shaped sinnet. Ashley Book of Knots ABok 2911 & 2912.

Hi, it would be nice to see this being tied in you hand (inverted) as I'm guessing it's faster than laying it out on the table. So you pass the lines under each other as you worked the crown knot. I'm in Finland and there's similar work as this with slightly different decor. I could send some pictures if you're interested.

What you have made is a 3 dimensional reef knot, what you think of as alternative crown knots is not the case as it is wall and crown knots, a reef knot is made of a wall and crown knot, what every one thinks of as a wall knot is really an inverted wall knot .the other knot you showed is a 3 dimensional granny knot where you tie crown knot after crown knot or wall knot after wall knot.
