Mojang is turning on KeepInventory for lower difficulties. And it's controversial.

What they should have done is make it so Keep inventory is no longer addressed as a cheat, just an option to turn on and off

I CANNOT be the only one who'd think It Would be WAYYY Eeasier to just add a "Keep Inventory" toggle right Next to the "Create World" button so that new people can see it lmfao

Just remove keep inventory from the cheats tab and move it to the normal game settings when creating a world and its fixed.

Put keep inventory where the bonus chest setting is.

The obvious answer to this is to move keepInventory to *not* be a cheat. Make it optional as it always has been, but make it not disable achievements.

I've always wanted them to implement something like a gravestone mod - you lose everything when you die but it doesn't despawn and is easier to find.

Honestly the way dying impacts your inventory should be updated. Something so that you can have the punishment of having to find your items without them going away forever, something similar to how a lot of mods will stop your items from despawning by storing them at the location of your death.

One important thing I want to note is for some people, keep inventory is an accessibility feature. For me it is. I have very limited hand mobility, and playing games in general is hard, but I especially can’t do quick actions. I like the actual hunger element of easy, but die to mobs very easily, then I can’t get back to my stuff before it despawns and that’s no longer a fun challenge, it just sucks. Keep inventory eases the sort of unfair stress of “I physically can’t hit the buttons fast enough” from me.

I like subnautica's system, where you lose everything you acquired since the last time you were in a base. You don't lose your equipment, but you can't use death as a fast travel.

I think the solution is just make KeepInventory more noticeable in the options. Idk how it is for Bedrock, but in Java you have to go down a rabbit hole to toggle it.

Minecraft needs to have an in-between setting for losing items on death. Have it work pretty much exactly like the way Core Keeper does it. When you die in Core Keeper you drop all of your items besides what is in your hotbar and the equipment you are wearing. This lets you actually make it back to wherever you died to get your stuff if you die somewhere really far or dangerous.

I think it makes a lot of sense, if you're playing a difficult below normal, you don't want the game to be frustrating

They literally should have put keep inventory as a thing you can select when making the world, like a little toggle that you could ignore if you wanted.

It makes alot more sense for it to be in peaceful mode

It’s a pretty good way to destigmatize keepinventory for casual players. Just make sure players can toggle it in world settings and there you go

Can’t believe they are making the easy difficulties easy

But, fr, keep inventory should not be a command thing, it’s just a QoL

In Terraria softcore difficulty, when you die, you keep your items but lose half your coins. I think Minecraft should take a page out of this: In peaceful and easy, if you die, you keep your items, but lose your XP. I think that’s a good middle ground.

Honestly it should've always been enabled on peaceful.
Nothing less peaceful than a small kid losing all their items permanently.

Honestly I play with keepinventory now simply because I don't have the time to deal with the massive setback that is dying anymore. The thing with keep inventory though is that it's not just making dying a little more forgiving. It's an easy way to get back home, and to fill your hunger bar. Death should be less forgiving I reckon, but not like this

Ive always hated the inventory death system. You're either set up to just fly right back to your items which is just keep inventory with an extra step or you rebuild what you lost using farms in seconds both of which eliminates the risk of losing your inventory. The alternative is you lose your inventory and hours of work which personally I don't want to mindlessly slog through again. The only people it really makes a difference for is people who like punishment but at that point just play hardcore. There is no meaningful point to inventory drop on death outside of pvp
