Actually you can punch air but only if you change your video settings so you need to go to settings and then choose video then scroll down until you found UI profile then click then choose classic

Edit:ok so im making a mistake so actually the thing that can make you punch the air is not the one Im telling yall so the actuall settings is go to settings then touch then activate split control sorry😅

My main issue is that when I tried to join it was really crowded and I couldn’t get past the main lobby

You need to have a crosshair, you need to change your settings in touch

On bedrock you can also change your look mode to have a permenant crosshair in the middle, this should work as well

tips : punch the ground because anywhere you go there will be ground except for the sky.

Honestly, that's impressive as to how you were able to make so it works on PE AND make cross compatible.

They recently added a Separate Buttons + Joystick play option, so the main issue no longer exists if you put some effort into learning the controls.

Guys you can use the new mobile controls that is crosshair or to puch in the air by clicking the attack button

If you don't have a controller (most of the people don't) you can change your controls to the new ones where you have a sword button and if you click on it, it works like punch but you actually just have to click it
