The subtlety of that "split like parents" comment had me in stitches

I was not ready for the emotional damage that dropped in the middle of this short. Atleast I can take solice in the sweet sungolds I grow at home.

I've been seriously gardening for about 7 years now, and have grown Sungolds every year. They're amazing and grow really well even in containers and small plots. And yeah, they overproduce like crazy if you let them. I tend to pick some when they are green and pickle them, or toast them over a flame and use them like tomatillos in salsa.

How can you live with your pitty pulling those puppy dog eyes and wearing her little pink bandana without exploding from cuteness overload

True. One tomato plant, especially the small kinds, can carry a LOT of fruit. I grew honey tomatoes for the 1st time this year (I did grow other, bigger types before) and there’s SO MANY now.

I stopped trying to incorporate them in my meals, cause everything just became a tomato dish and started to just snack them. Especially, cause they’re not the only tomatoes I got. Let alone the other veggies.

Tomatoes from a garden are so much better than the ones found at the grocery store. Its something everyone should invest in a small garden as much as possible.

*claps hands* MY TIME HAS COME.

Growing Sungold is easy if you keep in mind two things:

1. The leaves closest to the ground of a Sungold will always--ALWAYS--look like shit. Sungolds are especially susceptible to splashback damage, and splashback damage can resemble a slew of common tomato diseases. Mitigate this by watering mindfully at the root to minimize splashing. Once the plant gets a few feet high (which won't take long), strip the lowest leaves to spare your sanity. Or don't, and be the chaotic evil gardener you were meant to be.

2. Give them more space than you think is reasonable, and give them the best support you can (I like steel pea fences or chicken wire tied to posts). Sungolds are the burly jock cousin of yours that has no concept of personal space, and turns into a floppy noodle when they get drunk, OR a schoolyard bully that wants total dominion of the planting space. Take your pick.

They're one of the most rewarding tomatoes to grow, period.

I can comfirm tried growing some at home isn't the hardest thing i've ever did but it's kinda delicate and a small mess up can ruin everything but i mean tomatoes in general are kinda delicate

I love the relaxed vibe here that doesn’t show any eating sexy or sexy poses. Literally love every video you do though. My favorite amongst all cooking channels. I’m sure others are here purely for the sexy chef thingy tho 😌

My mom usually adds them to salads or cut in half, add olive oil, garlic and fresh whole basil leaves to make a simple quick and amazing pasta sauce
