Graham stated that so beautifully! "People get in a very rigid position, where they confuse their position with reality as if it's a FACT when it's really a CHOICE." And like he said, this mind set crosses every discipline. Every discussion is couched as a debate, where one must win and one must lose. This dogmatic positioning ruins real discussion. It's exhausting and divisive. I think that's what he is saying, and I've been thinking along those lines for some time. Civil discourse is slipping away from us! Thx for bringing up this thought provoking topic, Russell and Graham!

I really like the last bit about 'committing to a persona without knowing its providence'. We all defend 'self' without really understanding what it means. 'Unconditional' is a word I find very helpful. I love Graham deeply!

"The magic.... " I love that, it's exactly how I feel about life. Why do people get so wound up about Graham? What I love is that he NEVER says " this is how it was" but rather he presents possibilities, competently and coherently. You can see how much effort goes into his books. I've seen hours of Graham. I'm being dishonest there. I've seen weeks of him. I've fallen asleep to his and Randall's JRE episodes, like the sound of rain.
Everyone likes to get Graham worked up. The way Russell approaches this discussion is really quite beautiful. I've never heard anyone really enquire as to how Graham feels about the disgraceful backlash he's faced.
