On July 10, the Supreme Court (SC) ruled that a Muslim woman can claim maintenance from her husband under section 125 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC). The two-judge Bench of Justice BV Nagarathna and Augustine George Masih gave the verdict. Section 125 deals with the aspect of maintenance of wives, children, and parents.
