That's a cool little hammer bit ya got there. And kudos for wearing PPE !!! Thanks for sharing. I grew up in norhteast PA right on the 80/81 junction, so I enjoy watching all yous guys from my new home down here near Charlotte. I still give tires the ole boot or knee from the front and they pop loose, but man. I dont need to tell my fellow yankees that some of these northeastern vehicles need tons of PB B'Laster, skilled hammerin and torches to get loose without damaging surrounding components. I know videos like this must save so many people from losing their christianity ! Haha.

Great tips. For stubborn wheels, I at times use a 2x4 that runs across the car, put one end on the inner wheel (where you hit the wheel in your video) The other end runs across to the opposite side, have it on a block, get a big sledge and whack the hay out of the exposed end. Works well when car is low and not too lifted

When I do them mobile without an air compressor, I usually use beat it with a 1 lb ball peen and then put a small pry bar between backing plate and drum and apply a little pressure and tap and they will pop off. There is still a lot of drum brakes out there.

nice tip with the air hammer mike. with a really stuck wheel you can loosen the lug nuts and drive it

Mike, I like both tips but the second one is the first time I've seen it done that way. No more kicking and pounding from the outside. Thanks bud have a good one Artie ❤️

I used that tire removal trick from behind many times before. Only in my case jackstands only. So lying down hitting the back of rim. Your lift makes it easier for sure.

Great tips Mike! I will have to remember those when people from places like Pennsylvania bring me their car to work on!

I'm glad I don't have to deal with rust. I have had a few cars before where the wheel is rusted on there.

I wish some of the obliterated rusty junk I've worked on came apart that easy! lots of rear drum brakes around here still. mix of gm, ford, hyundai, toyota and others.
nothing has made me cuss more than seized up rear disc brakes, pads that de-bonded and came off, caliper pins and pistons seized or e-brakes dragging, sticking enough to kill gas mileage and make you do donuts on snow/slush covered roads taking off from lights and stop signs(2012 hyundai in 2016) nothing looked rusty, but they were seized bad and very delayed release lol.

The air hammer is a great method, I've used it for this very purpose several times!

I once had a tire/wheel stuck so bad that I had to reinstall the lugnuts, but not totally tight and drive the car around the block. Came back and tried again, it worked itself loose enough for me to pull it off. That was a crazy one for me.

Good stuff Mike!

I've got a parts truck with a Dana 60. The truck sat for 10 years I cannot get the front wheels off. I've tried a sledge hammer, pb blaster spray, heat, driving back and forth with lugs loose!! I'm gonna try that hammer end for my air hammer. Might have to take the spindle apart !!

Mike, will that air hammer tip work when the drum has a lip worn into it or do you need to back off the star adjuster wheel from the back side ? Thumbs up on the tips .

I need exercise so beating those rusty drums and rotors off by hand with a three pound sledge is like having a free gym membership. 😀

Living in the rust belt equals more tools in your arsenal. I've seen your collection. No rust has a chance of holding you up to complete a job. Good tips.
