Tips for Removing Backing on Double-sided Tape

Borrowing the idea from the 'Stick-It Dots' - Apply the tape to one of the surfaces with the backing still on. Then make a slit thru the center of the backing with a sharp utility knife. Use the knife to get under and pull each half of the backing off.

Take a hint from food service: (for the CA/Masking tape use). Fold over a 2cm piece of each line of tape back onto itself before sticking it down; that’ll make it much easier to remove later.

I prefer to use regular one-sided tape on both sides and then stick them together with double-sided tape.

Use a small piece of tape on the backing and pull it off.

my advice,

remove as much of the backing as you can, then proceed to use a pair of tweezers. They are more nimble and smaller than your thumbs.
